Mark Tougias was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1957. He is self-taught and is known for his plein air landscapes of the New England countryside and for his tonal styles. He has exhibited widely throughout New England and has painted and traveled extensively throughout Europe. Most of his landscapes are of scenes in Vermont and upstate New York. He has been a member of the Southern Vermont Art Center, Boston's Copley Society and the North Shores Artists Association in Gloucester, MA
